The Order of the Durrani Empire - 1st class, breast star.
- Nishan-i-Daulat-i-Durrani (the Order of the Durrani Empire): founded by Shah Shuja in 1839 and awarded in three classes (1. Grand Cross, 2. Knight Commander, and 3. Companion). Closely moddeled on the military division of the British Order of the Bath and conferred on a number of officers of the Bengal Army. Became obsolete in 1842.

The Order of the Supreme Sun (King Muhammad Zahir Shah)
Grand Collar, sash & sash badge, breast star, collar and collar badge.

Nishan-i-Almar (the Order of the Supreme Sun): founded by Amir Abdu'r Rahman ca. 1897, reformed and reorganised by King Habibu'llah Shah in 1901 and by King Amanu'llah in 1923. Awarded in two classes (1. Nishan-i-Almar-i-A'ala or Grand Collar, and 2. Nishan-i-Almar-i-Ali or Grand Cordon) and conferred by the King on his own initiative. The original insignia for the first class included a shamsa (breast star), paik (badge pendant), telgha (crest worn as an aigrette), ilaqa (collar or chain) and kosi (robe). The original insignia for the second class being similar, but without the collar. Remodelled by King Muhammad Zahir Shah in 1960 with a new ribbon and badge. Nishan-i-Sardari (the Order of the Leader): founded by King Amanullah in 1923, as a reward for exceptional services to the ruler and the nation. Awarded in two classes (1. Sardar-i-A'ala, and 2. Sardar-i-Ali) and conferred by the King on his own initiative. Made obsolete in 1929 and later revived by King Muhammad Zahir Shah. Recipients of the original order enjoyed the titles of Sardar-i-A'ala or Sardar-i-Ali before their names and received grants of land. - Nishan-i-Istiqlal (the Order of Independence): founded by King Habibu'llah Shah in 1911, reorganised by King Amanu'llah in 1924, retained and modified in 1929. - Nishan-i-Shuja'at (the Order of Military Gallantry): founded by King Amanu'llah in 1919, as a reward for gallantry in the field. Extended to five classes in 1923.

- Nishan-i-Kidmat (the Order of Service): founded by King Habibu'llah Shah before 1906, as a reward for faithful services to the nation. Awarded in one class and one medal.

Nishan-i-Bahadur-i-Afghania (the Order of Afghan Honour): founded by Amir Abdu'r Rahman before 1901. Awarded in one class only. Obsolete 1919.
Nishan-i-Izzat-i-Afghania (the Order of Afghan Dignity): founded by Amir Abdu'r Rahman before 1901. Awarded in one class only. Obsolete 1919.
