1908 - 1915 H.E. Mutaga IV Mbikije, Sultan and Mwami of Burundi. b. 1903, son of H.E. Mwami Mwezi IV Gisabo Bikata-Bijoga, Sultan and Mwami of Burundi. b. at Mugera, ca. 1840, son of Ntare IV Rutaganzwa Rugamba, Mwami of Burundi, by his wife, Mwamikazi Ntibanyiha Bizama hitanzimiza Mwezi, of the Bunyakarama clan, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 21st August1908. Enthroned at Muramvya. m. (first) Queen (Mwamikazi) Niyakire, of the Bunyakarama clan. m. (second) Princess Ngenzahago (k. by order of Queen Ririkumutima, 1915), of the Munyagisaka clan. m. (third) Niyakira (k. by order of Queen Ririkumutima, 1915). He d. from malaria, contracted on entering Murangara, in the Kibara forest, 30th November1915, having had issue:
- 1) H.R.H. Prince (Umuganwa) Ignace Kamatari (s/o Niyakire), educ. privately. Chief of Mugamba-North until 1959. Rcvd: Knt. of the Order of Leopold II (1950), Gold Medal of the Royal Order of the Lion (1954), Bronze Medal (1935) and War Medal 1940-1945. m. (first) Ndaribarire. m. (second) Agrippine. m. (third) Ntawiha. He was k. at Bujumbura, 27th May 1964, having had issue, four sons and four daughters:
- a) H.H. Prince (Umuganwa) Komoni Deogratias Kamatari. b. 1942 (s/o Ndaribarire).
- b) H.H. Prince (Umuganwa) Pascal Kamatari. b. 1949 (s/o Agrippine). m. Mimi von der Recke (b. 4th June 1946), daughter of Adolf von der Recke, by his wife, Else. He d. 1997, having had issue, three sons:
- i) H.H. Prince (Umuganwa) Sebastian Chalmer von der Recke Kamatari. b. at Copenhagen, Denmark, 10th November 1974.
- ii) H.H. Prince (Umuganwa) Ignace Pascal von der Recke Kamatari. b. at Copenhagen, Denmark, 20th March 1976.
- iii) H.H. Prince (Umuganwa) Jonathan von der Recke Kamatari. b. at Copenhagen, Denmark, 10th August 1980.
- c) H.H. Prince (Umuganwa) Louis Kamatari. b. 1953 (s/o Agrippine). Actor.

- b) H.H. Princess (Umuganwakazi) Esther Kamatari. b. at Bujumbura, 1951 (d/o Agrippine), educ. l'Ecole Nationale d'Administration du Burundi. Former model. Author of "Princesse des rugos, mon histoire" (2001). Presdt. Assoc. des Burundais au France (1990). Rcvd: the Order of the Lion of Senegal (14.8.2002). m. Dr. ... She has issue, a son:
- c) H.H. Princess (Umuganwakazi) Baudouine Kamatari. b. at Mugamba, 1957 (d/o Agrippine). Coordinator of the Desertification Programme for the Environment Liaison Centre International (ELCI) in Nairobi, Kenya.
- d) H.H. Princess (Umuganwakazi) Fabiola Kamatari. b. 1961 (d/o Agrippine).
- The following assumed the name of Kamatari after the death of Prince Ignace, but does not appear to be his actual child:
- i) Etienne Kamatari. b. 1939 (s/o Ntawiha). m. Scolastigue Tumahi. He d. 2000, having had issue, two sons and three daughters:
- i) Guy Kamatari. m. Nadege Kadoyi.
- ii) Davin Kamatari. b. at Bujumbura, 1st July 1972. m. Annick Gatogato (b. at Bujumbura, 18th February 1975). He has issue, one son.
- i) Liliane Kamatari. m. Jean-Marie Nzohabonayo. She has issue, two sons and two daughters.
- ii) Chantal Kamatari. Financial Controller at Bank Belgolaise, Brussels. m. Gilles Hubens. She has issue, one son and one daughter.
- iii) Aline Kamatari.
- i) Etienne Kamatari. b. 1939 (s/o Ntawiha). m. Scolastigue Tumahi. He d. 2000, having had issue, two sons and three daughters:
