1680 - 1709 Ntare III Kivimira Savuyimba Semunganzashamba Rushatsi Cambarantama, Mwami of Burundi. A legendary descendant of the Ntwero Royal line, and reputed son of Chief Jabwe of Mugamba, by an irregular union with the wife of his brother, Chief Nsoro of Butatsi. Adopted by his paternal aunt, Inamabuye, and her husband, Chief Ruhinda [Ruhaga] of Buha. Conquered his father's province of Mugamba and expanded his kingdom to include Ngozi, Muramvya, Kitega, Bururi and Rutana. He d. ca. 1709, having had issue, a daughter:
1) Umuganwakazi ntare Nyiragasumba. m. Kimenyi Getura, Mwami of Gisaka fl 1700.
1739 - 1767 Mwami Mutaga III Senyamwiza Mutamo, Mwami of Burundi. He succeeded as a minor and reigned under a regency for many years, until he came of age and assumed full ruling powers. m. among other wives, a daughter of Mwami Ciyirima II Rujugira of Rwanda. He was k. in battle with his father-in-law, at Butare, ca. 1767, having had issue, six sons:
1) Umuganwa mutaga Mbonyingingo. He had issue, at least two sons:
a) Umuganwa mutaga Mussine. He had issue, thirteen sons and five daughters:
ii) Umuganwa mutaga Gatamba. He had issue, including ten sons and nine daughters:
(1) Umuganwa mutaga Biratungaye Rukirisa. Chief of Bukakwa. He had issue, five sons and two daughters:
(a) Umuganwa mutaga Samawujagga. m. three wives. He had issue:
(i) Umuganwa mutaga Katasigana (s/o the first wife). He had issue, one son and two daughters.
(ii) Umuganwa mutaga Seritwa (s/o the first wife).
(iii) Umuganwa mutaga Yakana (s/o the first wife).
(iv) Umuganwa mutaga Senyawutshukku (s/o the second wife).
(v) Umuganwa mutaga Sevissegu (s/o the second wife).
(vi) Umuganwa mutaga Missigarro (s/o the second wife).
(vii) Umuganwa mutaga Vihungu (s/o the second wife).
(viii) Umuganwa mutaga Ngonsi (s/o the third wife).
(b) Umuganwa mutaga Muhini. m. (first) Inamatama (d. at Monge), youngest daughter of Chief Sekawonyi, of the Watutsi Munyakarama clan. m. (second) Kirebe. m. (third) Irwagisa, sister of Chief Shoya. m. (fourth) Mukuyangombe, another sister of Chief Shoya. m. (fifth) Nawaganwa. m. (sixth) Ninawunyegere. m. (seventh) Wavakure. m. (eighth) Natamo, another sister of Chief Shoya. He d. 1929, having had issue, at least six sons and three daughters:
(vii) Umuganwa mutaga Joseph Menyo. m. Inabigendera. He d. 1921, having had issue, two daughters:
1. Umuganwakazi mutaga Thérèse Kanyonga. m. at Gitega, 24th December 1930, as his first wife (div. 16th June 1945), H.M. Mwami Mwambutsa IV Bangiricenge, King of Burundi (b. at Nyabitogi, 1912; d. at Geneva, Switzerland, 1st May 1977), younger son of H.E. Mutaga IV Mbikije, Sultan and Mwami of Burundi, by his second wife, Princess Ngenzahago, of the Munyagisaka clan. She had issue, one son and two daughters - see below.
2. Umuganwakazi mutaga Marie Kwezi. m. Umuganwa ntare Joseph Kiraranganiya, Chief of Buyogoma (Ruyigi), son of Umuganwa ntare Muzazi. She had issue - see below.
(i) Umuganwakazi mutaga Kahivu (eldest child). She d. unm. after 1908.
(ii) Umuganwakazi mutaga Mageya.
(iii) Umuganwakazi mutaga Muhimpundu.
(c) Umuganwa mutaga Sekasingwa [Sekanyerere]. He d.s.p.

(first) Umuganwa ntare Russabiko (k. by his half-brother, Muzizi, ca. 25th May 1897), eldest son of Umuganwa ntare Rurakengereza Ntango, by his first wife, a Mukundo lady. m. (second) 1898, Umuganwa ntare Senyamurungu (b. ca. 1870), Chief of Buyogoma, younger brother of her first husband, second son of Umuganwa ntare Rurakengereza Ntango, by his first wife, a Mukundo lady - see below.
(b) Umuganwakazi mutaga Inashaza. m. (first) Umuganwa ntare Russabiko (b. ca. 1865; k. by his half-brother, Muzizi, ca. 25th May 1897), eldest son of Umuganwa ntare Rurakengereza Ntango, by his first wife, a Mukundo lady. m. (second) 1898, Umuganwa ntare Senyamurungu (b. ca. 1870), Chief of Buyogoma, younger brother of her first husband, second son of Umuganwa ntare Rurakengereza Ntango, by his first wife, a Mukundo lady.
