THE HOUSEHOLD OF FAITH

STUDY OF PAGANISM AND NEO-PAGANISM

by Joel Hendon

"And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt." (Jeremiah 25: 6)

"Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me" (Deuteronomy 5: 9)

The word "Pagan" is the same or very similar in meaning to that of "Heathen" and can be found as early as Genesis 18: 18 when God said, "Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?"

The word "nations" here is from the Hebrew term "goyim" or "goiim" and is in this case, referring to all peoples of the world. However, after God gave the law to the Israelites through Moses, the word took on the meaning of all people (or even moreso, all religious people) other than the Jews. And in the present day, has also excluded Christians and sometimes, Muslims.

Through the ages, the term has become more derogatory and carries the connotations of "uneducated", "ignorant", "irreligious" and even "uncivilized". Certainly, some of these suggestive connotations cannot be accepted as accurate or there would be few pagans on the earth. When in reality, there are vast numbers of people who worship strange and multiple gods, not acceptable to Jehovah God nor to those who believe in Him and that the Bible is His inspired word. It would appear to me that the most accurate meaning of the word is that to include all people who do not follow or believe in Jehovah God and his word, the Holy Bible. This would necsssitate the inclusion of the Muslims. They may profess to believe in Jehovah God, but they certainly do not believe in His inspired word, the Bible. If they did, they would accept that Jesus of Nazareth was His only Son. And they would not believe in any latter day prophet. (Mohammed)

You will find here a good number of links to writings of Pagans, neo-Pagans, writings of others about Pagans and refutations of Pagans and of their false worship and "Christianized" handed down Pagan celebrations. Christians need to recognize the sacrilege of injecting portions of Pagan celebrations and actiivities into the activities of God's children.

(It becomes obvious in reading these neo-pagan writings that their reasoning is headed in no direction. They ramble on of their own ideas of what is good and what "the gods" will be happy with, etc. Their calling themselves pagans and their religion paganism is empty and even though they qualify for the title, they must remember that all others, not following Jehovah God, are included in this title. Some vehemently deny that there is any Satanism in the pagan religion. That is pure bunk. Satanism certainly is paganism and cannot be denied by those who do not accept that particular philosophy.)

It is well known that the rise of Nazism represents the massive return of German pagan mythology. What is much less known is the role played by Oriental mythology in this rebirth of paganism. Click Here
